In honor of Crowder's new cd "Neon Steeple", I was inspired to revisit my stylized portrait approach. I think I labored over it a bit more than I would have liked but overall I think it turned out how I wanted.  Hope you enjoy!

Disney Concept sketch

Hello all my faithful bloggers. Thanks for checking back! I have been up to my ears with work so I apologize for the lack of posts. Recently, I created a few Disney concept sketches for some fine art work and thought I would share some with you. This is a sketch of Captain Hook in a similar style to my previous portraits. Hope you like it!

Book Edits

The children's book I am working on is still going through some edits and changes. Recently a few of the pages I sketched were cut, so I thought I would share one. Hope you enjoy!

Frogs

Another sketch, I find that I like to keep my work more on the rough/unfinished side. I feel some of the life is lost once the images are cleaned up, something I need to get past and work on. This is a digital image that I approached with colored pencils in mind.

Welcome...sort of...

This is the third week I have started the Illustration Friday topic but not had a chance to finish it. I figured I would at least post the sketch that I came up with and may finish it at another time. I wanted the piece to have a Muppets / Fosters feel to it.

Mr. Hyde

I mentioned before I am studying to create better character designs. I am working closely with Stephen Silver and have learned quite a bit. Here is a design I did from the "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" novel. In this exercise I created a turn around, attitudes, and expressions of Mr. Hyde. Hope you guys like 'em!

Coffee House Sketch

I saw this guy at a coffee house and had to draw him once I got home. He was really holding on to his cup of coffee! I feel the drawing might have gotten a little messy around his cell phone but still think it came out pretty good.

Hands

Here are some quick studies I did of hands. It is amazing how complicated the hand can seem. Breaking it down into simple shapes and parts really makes them more approachable and less intimidating.

Bowler Hat Man

This is an exercise that I learned from Stephen Silver. I started off with a realistic version of this guy. Then I tried using different shapes for his head but still capturing his likeness. I liked how they turned out so I thought I would throw them up for you to look at.
